Podcasts for learning Norwegian
In this post, I will list some of the best podcasts for learning Norwegian. Beginners might find it difficult to find content suitable for their level. However, for intermediate and advanced learners, it becomes easier to find great content.
For podcasts that provide transcripts, you can import them into LangClash and learn the vocabulary to better understand the episode. This is a great way to use content created for native speakers when you are not yet advanced in the language.
Learn Norwegian Podcast - Beginner
The host speaks english and Norwegian making it easier to understand the concepts. Goes into grammatical concepts as well so it’s worth checking out.

Norsk for Beginners
This is great podcast to learn Norwegian. First the host reads the text in Norwegian and after he reads the english translation. In the end he review some important vocabulary in the episode. Highly recommend. In the website you can also find the transcript. You can then import the transcript to LangClash to learn the words and then listen to the podcast with a lot more confidence.
Nylig Norsk
This podcast is entirely in Norwegian. The hosts speak slow and clear Norwegian but you might have an intermediate level to able to understand since no translation is provided. It seems that no new episodes are being released but it’s worth checking out the existing ones.
NorwegianClass101
I don’t recommend this podcast. Even if the offer some Norwegian content aimed for beginners most of the episodes is just ads for their other offerings and are entirely in English. I would avoid this one.
Lær Norsk Nå - Intermediate
From the host: “Lær norsk nå! is a podcast for the intermediate Norwegian learner (B1 – B2) who wants to hear different dialects and variation of the language at an adapted level. I will try to speak clearly, slowly and explain difficult words. Hopefully, the subjects of the episodes will be engaging and fun.” This podcast is from the same author as Norsk for Beginners, highly recommend. You can also find the transcripts in the website.
Norsklærer Karense
This podcasts is entirely in Norwegian, the host is a Norwegian teacher that also offers lessons online in her website. The host talks about news and various topics. It’s worth checking out.
Norskpodden
Entirely in slow and clear Norwegian this podcast is great for beginners and intermediate learners. You can find the transcript in their website and that’s great. Recommended!
NRK Radio - Advanced
The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, commonly known as NRK, is the Norwegian government-owned radio and television public broadcasting company. They offer many podcasts in various topics that are worth checking out if you are an advanced learner. For example: Hele historien, Ekko, Oppdatert, Krig og fred, Debatten, Burde vært pensum, Historiske kjendiser.
AVHØRT
A true crime podcast that’s one of Norways most heard shows. The hosts give you unique crime stories from real life.
Forklart
News podcast by Aftenpostens newspaper. It’s a 15 minute long update about current affairs and recent events. One of the most listened podcasts in Norway.
